A simple dialogue

Use the Spanish phrases to translate the English dialogue.  Write it out and perform it.

• I want to work in your school.
• It is possible, but I have to tell you, we often have difficult days.
• I think the hours are good.
• That is true.  I get up at half past six, and I start work at half past eight. 
• What do you have to do?
• I help the children with their work.
• I also make lunch with the children.
• Is it really difficult?  It sounds easy!
• Sometimes the children do dangerous things, or they get very upset.
• Do you think it is a good place to do work experience?
• I know you can drive.  You can do something called an apprenticeship with us.
• What is that?
• You have to do a combination of work and study.  The good thing is that you get paid and you get a qualification.
• That sounds good to me.

Use these phrases to translate the dialogue.

A veces los niños hacen cosas peligrosas o se enojan mucho.

Ayudo a los niños con su trabajo.

Es posible, pero debo decirte que a menudo tenemos días difíciles.

Eso es cierto.  Me levanto a las seis y media y empiezo a trabajar a las ocho y media. 

Eso me suena bien.

Hay que hacer una combinación de trabajo y estudio.  Lo bueno es que te pagan y obtienes una calificación.

Quiero trabajar en tu escuela.

Sé que sabes conducir.  Puedes hacer algo llamado un aprendizaje con nosotros.

IRREGULAR VERBS

Some verbs have unique conjugations in the yo form and are otherwise regular in the present tense.

Some verbs undergo a vowel change in their stem when conjugated. These changes occur in all forms except for nosotros and vosotros.  There are three types of stem changes.

E (e changes to ie)

O (o changes to ue)

E (e changes to i)

Some verbs do not fit into the categories above and have unique forms that must be memorized.

Write short sentences.  Keep them as simple as you can.

Use a translation tool to put them into Spanish.

Write them out, then check them with your teacher.  Present them to a friend, teaching your friend any new Spanish, and making sure they learn it!
