A simple dialogue

Use the Spanish phrases to translate the English dialogue.  Write it out and perform it.

  • Where is the clothes shop?
  • It is here, in this street.
  • I need to buy a jacket.
  • Do you want a big green jacket?
  • No.  I want a comfortable blue jacket.
  • The jackets are here.
  • I want this black jacket.  It is very pretty!
  • Do you need a pullover?
  • I have a lot of pullovers.
  • Do you want a shirt?
  • I want an elegant shirt. This shirt is very elegant.

Use these phrases to translate the dialogue.

ADJECTIVES

Some adjectives from this unit:

Caro = ExpensiveBarato = CheapCómodo = ComfyMarrón = Brown
Gris = GreyRojo = RedAzul = BlueVerde = Green

In Spanish, adjectives usually come after the noun they describe. 

  • Una camisa roja = A red shirt

Adjectives must agree (change spelling) in gender and number with the noun they modify

  • If the noun is masculine, the adjective must be masculine.  Un vestido rojo.
  • If the noun is feminine, the adjective must also be feminine.  Una camiseta roja.
  • If the noun is plural, the adjective must be plural.
    • Los vestidos rojos = The red dresses
    • Las camisetas rojas = The red t-shirts

To make adjectives plural

  • Add -s if the adjective ends in a vowel
    • Un vestido verde = A green dress
    • Unos vestidos verdes = Some green dresses
  • Add -es if it ends in a consonant
    • Una falda marrón = A brown skirt
    • Unas faldas marrones = Some brown skirts

If there are two or more adjectives, they are generally linked with y (and)

  • Una camisa blanca y cómoda = A white, comfy shirt
